Snowed-in Thursday

So, having decided to work from home today, I stayed up a bit later than usual last night, safe in the knowledge that I wouldn't have to get up at 06:30 for the drive into work. At 00:40, I peered out my window to note that it was not snowing.

Bugger, I thought, deciding that it was probably best to go to bed based on the fact that it looked like it actually wasn't going to snow and I would need to drive into work.

At 06:30 I woke up, pulled the curtain back, and was presented with a vision of white loveliness spreading as far as the eye could see. "Hurrah!" I holla'd to no one in particular, threw the duvet back over myself, and whacked the snooze button on my alarm clock.

Just after 08:00 I woke up, and decided that as that's around the time I usually start work I better actually, well, start work. The journey was terrible, mainly because it was a bit cold going from my bedroom to the living room; don't worry, though – I made it OK. Soon enough I was sitting in front of my computer and working away.

As exciting as that sounds, it kinda wasn't. On the plus side, I got loads done. But by around 13:00 I was in need of a bit of a break, and the snow was melting ("melting, MEEEEELTING," for all you Wizard of Oz fans) and I wanted to enjoy it just a little bit before it was gone.

I decided on a jaunt to Richmond for a coffee. Which proved necessary because I'd drunk so much tea and was running low on milk.

This of course meant that I needed to clear the snow off my car. Following on from the other week, here's some more gratuitous photos of my snow-covered car.

Look - it was quite deep.

Any-hoo, it can't all be snow-covered cars. Here's a classy pic of the snow-covered Richmond Green.

To be honest, it'd all started to melt by this point and it was more of a mush-covered Richmond Green. Beggars can't be choosers though.

I suppose the only bad thing about working from home is that I always feel a bit guilty about not going into the office, so I actually end up doing more work. Dammit! I was re-writing a George Takei interview until 17:30!

Snow is ok, but mush/sludge is crap. All the slippery and none of the eye-candy.

Totally - it's like the difference between seeing Lindsey Lohan looking all prettied-up in a movie, then seeing the real thing stumble drunk out of a nightclub.

That's your little red car covered in snow in that first picture? That is such a cute car!

I'm glad you got to enjoy the snow (we the people who have lots of it during the winter months have another word for it sometimes, and it too has four letters and stars with "s") before it melted!

Yep! That's my little red car. The snowed-in awesome-mobile!!

I do like snow - maybe not as much as when I was a kid, though, as it tends to cause more problems when you're an adult. I expect I'd get fed-up with it if it hung around for months on end too!!

I don't like the Lindsay-as-snow comparison. Lindsay dolled up and Lindsay drunk-and-vaginal is more appropriate for a comparison between high quality snow and high quality sunshine- both very pleasant, in their own way.

It's so weird looking at those pictures. It's hard to imagine snow in 35 degree humid heat!

Inexplicable Device - Um... Indeed!

Skillz - Hmmm... I don't know. I s'pose it's all to do with your feelings for Lindsey. I can't say I'm a massive fan, and quite frankly even if she was the last woman on Earth I've seen enough pics of her in compromising positions to know I'd have to think twice about whether I wanted to try to help the survival of the human race, or if I should cut my fella off.

I think it would all come down to how quickly I could erase the image of Boba Fett falling into the Sarlac pit in Return of the Jedi from my mind.

T-Bird - It's not 35 degree heat. Snow couldn't settle in that sort of heat, you crazy foo-

Oh, wait, you mean you've got 35 degree heat, don't you?

I was going to say something about how little snow that seems, but then I wasn't going to, because it's all relative, isn't it? LIke T-Bird and the 35 degree heat, which, really, I would be melting in.

And even having said that, I would not have wanted to be brushing off the snow from your adorable car. One of the things I love about being in residence is that someone else shovels the driveway.

How little snow!? Britland ground to a halt!!! Admittedly, though, it had melted a fair bit by the time I ventured out, so the pictures aren't indicative of what it was really like.

Honest.

It was all good fun! And brushing the snow off my car was easy - because it's tiny!
