Day-by-day

Word-up, peeps. OK, so not much exciting has been going on, so I just thought I'd give you a run-down of what I've been up to.

Brace yourselves: I wouldn't want anyone, y'know, falling out of their chairs or anything.

Monday
Um… bugger all happened, to be honest. And by that I actually mean I can't remember what I did. Something must've happened… Either I'm having a senior moment or Monday was exceedingly, crushingly dull. I know I watched One Tree Hill, but that was about it.

Let's move on. Nothing to see here.

Tuesday
Tuesday was running club day, and my group (i.e. the fair-to-middling group) was thrown in with the advanced group for reasons I shan't bother to go into here. We did something called 'triangles' which is basically a mega-intense up-hill/down-hill relay. It hurt. A lot.

Actually, during the pre-triangles warm-up I seriously thought I'd done myself an injury. While doing a bunch of squat-thrusts I swear I felt something tear in my thigh, followed by an intensely warm sensation - almost like I'd sprayed an entire can of Deep-heat on my leg. My first thought was "shit, I've buggered my leg up," so I stopped doing squat thrusts and just flexed it a bit. Anyway, either it was nothing to worry about, or I've totally gone all Claire Bennet on ya, because within a couple of minutes the warm sensation had gone and I was in the midst of running up-hill like a complete nutter for my first triangles section.

Cue Claire Bennet-style cheerleader shenanigans:

Gimme a 'Y'!
Gimme an 'A'!
Gimme a 'Y'!

YAY!

Wednesday
Went to see The X-Files: I Want to Believe after work, which was a well-timed screening because it looks like the cinema's giving it the heave-ho after this week, pretty much confirming the general consensus that it's a big ol' flop. I really wanted to like this movie, because I was a) a big fan of the show back in the day, before it went so far up it's own ass all it could see was bowels and colon, and b) because I like to support the underdog. And d'ya know what? I liked it. It's not a 'WOW!' movie like The Dark Knight, but it's an intelligent and gripping thriller that does ask you to engage your brain (which DK does too, admittedly). Therein lies the rub, though, people: it's not a summer blockbuster. It's a smaller film, much smaller in scale than the first X-Files movie; almost like an independent movie in fact, though I'd disagree with those who say it's just like a longer version of one of the TV episodes. I can't honestly recall any moments that required any kick-ass special effects, and at one point I wasn't entirely sure it was going to have that familiar X-Files twist - which would've been an interesting twist on the established format to say the least. I did think the end was a tad rushed, though.

I genuinely think that if the studio had taken a real look at what Chris Carter and co had made, they could've made this a bigger hit. If it had come out around October, say, near Halloween or something, then I think it might've made a bigger impact. But putting it up against The Dark Knight? Dumb.

Thursday
Today will probably rank up there with Monday, which means by tomorrow morning it's doubtful I'll remember anything that happened. So let's list some things that happened so I can remind myself:

• Friendly barista-dude in Secret Starbucks gave me a copy of The Shadow of the Sun which he kept for me after it was given away free in The Times last week and I was too cheap to pay 70p for it. He must really want me to read it, so I'll add it to the book stack and give it a whirl at some point.

• Technical issues prevented me from doing some work I'd really wanted to do. Poopy.

• New-look Facebook troubles me. I'll be sticking with the old one, thank you.

• I am highly amused by these Batman y-fronts, which have 'BOOM!' and 'WHAK!' (tee-hee!) emblazoned across them.

• I am loading every Jeff Buckley track I own onto my iTunes. Good times.

Right, that's me - what've you bitches been up to?

Right. That's that out of the way - It's been ages since I've managed to do that here. Tara normally beats me to it.

Shit! I forgot about the X-Files film - I must see it before it finishes here, too.

Just a thought: Could the warm sensation at running club have been wee? Did you wet yourself?

I have done bugger all, too. Except play Word Twist on FaceBook. What's all this about New FaceBook? Looks the same to me, unless I'm being all technologically retarded again...

It seems with these batman pants that the Big Bang briefs have a rival... Who will be victorious?!

Those Batman pants must be purchased by someone. Anyone. Hell, I'll wear them myself!

Hmm. What have I been doing? Getting myself all worked up about work. Bitching to Dora. Hating on my nemesis. Learning what bodums are. Erm, being bitter and old. Figuring out how to do whizz bang shit at work on the new technamalogical thingy I have. Patting Peecat. Cleaning. Cooking a kick arse roast for Dora last night.

Mostly complaining and being a Haversham.

Well, you did ask what the bitches had been up to.

Inexplicable Device - Go see it! Quick!

And no, I did not wet myself. Not this time, anyway. Apparently some cyclists do so they don't have to stop, although I can't say I've done it when I'm on my bike either. Stinky pants!

New Facebook - there's a button in the top left hand corner, although new facebook looks just like old facebook except … wider…

T-Bird - Get them then!

Your life sounds exciting. Especially the patting Peecat bit. I hope you love her and hug her and call her George.

I have senior moments sometimes when people ask me what I did during the weekend. Thanks to blogging, I can document what I've done so that the senior Tara can look back and say, "Hey, someone had a mildly exciting weekend! Oh wait, that's me."

Very glad to hear that your advanced cell generation healed your leg in time for the triangle session. Don't do it too often, though, people will start to notice and will be jealous.

I have been very busy at work, watching movies at home, and eating a lot of oatmeal. And getting pissed off at other people who read online comics. All in a week's work!

I totally agree with you about the X-Files...it totally would have fit in around October, not the least of which because of all of the snow in the movie!

Did you stay until the end of the credits? I didn't, and had to watch it online. IDV, if you go, stay until the very end of the credits.

Also: I quite dislike the "new" facebook. I prefer the classic look. And scrabulous!

Well said on the X-Files movie. I enjoyed the crap out of it.

Senior moments have become the highlights in my dreary days!
I have been fighting with Vodafone aaallll week. Grrr

X-Files end credits? Will do.

New Facebook? Won't bother.

Thanks!

Tee hee: Love that Bugs Bunny line!

I know what you did on Monday!

You were playing with guyliner and red lippy apparently.

It's been a pretty dreary week, pretty much only working and playing (kicking arse (sometimes)) Word Twist on Facebook.

I have not noticed the new wider Facebook. Hmmmmm.

Oh yes! I was spending a bit of time argueing with my fabulous iPhone because there are things I don't know how to do. Need help. Soon. Very. Soon.

Tara - That's a cracking reason for blogging. In fact, I must write it down so I don't forget! Who am I?

Don't worry about the cellular regeneration - I won't go so far as to snip a finger off or anything.

Dinah - Oatmeal? Oh, I could totally go some of that at the moment. I haven't had any in ages. Yeah, I did stay till the end - what was that all about? I expected the camera to pan up and to see something beneath the water, but all I good was Mulder gurning to the camera and Scully lounging about.

Mike - Yeah, I'm actually thinking I'd like to see it again… although it'll have to wait until the DVD comes out seeing as it's vanished from cinemas already. I certainly think it's a film that'll be more rewarding on subsequent viewings.

Watch*Paint*Dry - You should just forget to go into work one day. Lord knows I'm considering it. What music did you buy?

Inexplicable Device - Yes, stay to watch the credits and be as bamboozled as I am.

And who doesn't love that line?

Cyberpete - Monday? Ha! Not likely!!

Don't argue with the iPhone. iPhone is your friend. What do you want to do with it? If you can tell me, I can help. Except with ringtones. I don't have a clue there.

CyberPete said...

No? I was just looking at that adorable blonde haired photo of you.

It's little things like the ringtones. Then of course it's the fact that I can't seem to send any photos via mms etc.

I am not sure anyone would notice if I didn't go to work. I would though, I would be oh so much happier!

I bought Oracular Spectacular MGMT and Stranger's Almanac Deluxe Edition Whiskeytown. Both are awesome

'Oracular Spectacular' are my two new favourite words and use them at every opportunity. I am sure it is very annoying. Yeah!

Tim said...

Cyberpete - Ah, that was done with a Dark Knight app from iTunes!

As for your iPhone problems…

Ringtones: here!

Mms… you can't. Although I seem to remember hearing that there might be an app for it in the app store, so maybe check that out?

Tim said...

Watch*Paint*Dry - I almost bought Oracular Spectacular the other day! But then I didn't. But now I might again. Spectacular!
