Size isn't everything, right?

As many of you know, I'm a big fan of small cacti in Mexican-themed earthenware pots (you weren't aware of this? Good grief, do catch up here, here, and here). A couple of years ago, in the wake of *sniff* the tragic passing of one of my beloved cacti, Sparky Ma took pity and bought me a replacement. She also bought one for herself, despite not really liking cacti (I think she was won over by the Mexican-themed earthenware pot - I mean, who wouldn't be?).

While I lavish mine with love and affection, Sparky Ma just leaves hers plonked on top of the microwave. That being the case, I can only assume that while mine looks like this:

Hers looks like this as the result of some ungodly mutation caused by ambient background radiation:

Either that or she's got the damn thing on steroids. How do you urine test a cactus?

Now THAT'S a cactus!

I managed to finally kill all my plants, it looks like night of the living dead plants in my kitchen window. Maybe I should water then from time to time.

Your pots are lovely.

I've never seen anything like it!

You mentioned urine testing, but maybe you'd better check to see if anyone actually urinated on your cacti - Why else would they look so... Well, the phrase "long streak of piss" springs to mind.

Cyberpete - It's very floppy though; I keep telling her she should put a stick in the pot to support it. She's a bit freaked out by it though.

Thank you - they were lovely hand-painted by nimble-fingered aged Mexican ladies.

Inexplicable Device - Are you suggesting that someone has urinated on Sparky Ma's cactus?!

Well, who knows what you boys get up to when left to your own devices?

WV is lardsiv. Eww! I'd imagine the lard would just clog up all the holes.

Aw I love the Mexican themed pots! All my cacti were in boring brown pots:( and then got left behind in one of the many house moves:(

There is just a slight difference in size there...

It reminds me of our lab's chillis.

Post Doc-> super fertilizer and lavishing care -> super chilli

Others tudent-> left in too tiny pots and ignored then repotted to grow huge and chilli covered

mine...um dead. Very dead.

At least your little (and non-floppy!) cactus isn't dead!

Inexplicable Device - WE DON'T WEE ON PLANTS, I CAN TELL YOU THAT MUCH!

Odd Bob - Hello! So you didn't have too much luck with the chillis, huh? I can sympathise - most of the plants I own have a look of utter anguish about them. Three years ago I took an office plant home to look after it over Christmas; I finally got around to taking it back this week, feeling kind of smug that it was actually doing OK … then my boss came over to see me today and basically said "what have you done to it?"

SAD FACE.

I've never seen a cactus quite like your Sparky Ma's....It looks like it has mutated into a snake and has shed its skin to grow....but into what?

Your cactus has an interesting shape too! Where did you get it from?
